City of Danville, Virginia Selects Caesars Entertainment

The City of Danville, Virginia has selected and is in negotiations with its preferred casino gaming operator, Caesars Entertainment. We applaud the leadership and hard work of Danville’s Mayor, City Council, City Manager, previous and Interim Directors of Economic Development, and numerous City staff in achieving this milestone for the community.

In March 2019, the Virginia General Assembly & Gov. Northam approved legislation which began the process toward casino authorization for economically distressed communities across the Commonwealth. Convergence Strategy Group was retained by the City of Danville to evaluate the potential costs and benefits that could accrue to the city should casino gaming be approved by its citizens, to assist in the solicitation of competitive bids by casino operators, and to support the City by meeting with legislators in the Commonwealth and discussing the implications that gaming taxes have on the scale and success of casino resort developments.

More about this project can be found in the official press release, as well as the in-depth interview of Scott Fisher and Suzanne Leckert by Global Gaming Business’ Roger Gros.
