Now What? Mapping the Opportunities in Sports Betting
On May 14, 2018, the U.S. Supreme Court paved the way for States to permit betting on sporting events. While a lot of excitement abounds from those in the gaming, sports, leisure and investment communities, it is important to identify where the real opportunities lie.
To sift through the possibilities, visualizing data sets can be very helpful. For fun I’ve created a couple of maps (above) to help our clients think through the possibilities: one showing the percentage of the population that participated in fantasy sports leagues in 2017, and one with the percentage of the population that watched sports on television in 2017. Analyses of data sets like these and others can help identify where the good bets on sports betting really are.
