For Hard Rock International’s massive leisure development project planned for the €8 billion Hellinikon development site in Athens, Greece, Convergence Strategy Group provided a gaming market assessment, analysis of operating pro forma, and assistance in finalizing financing with Greece-based banking institutions.  This “city within a city” is located at the site of the former Athens’ international airport, and is expected to become a unique destination in Europe.  The Hard Rock development includes:

• Casino – 1,500 slot machines, 180 table games
• Hotel – 5-star luxury hotel with 1,100 rooms
• Food and Beverage – 14 venues
• Conference/exhibition center – 9,000 sqm indoor, 3,000 sqm outdoor space
• Arena – multi-purpose event center, 10,000-person capacity
• Retail – 1,000 sqm
• Three additional hotels – 925 rooms
• Additional food and beverage outlets
• Marina
• Office and retail space
• Upgrade of coastal front, providing public access
• Family entertainment venues
• Museums and cultural venues
• Health and wellness centers

CSG provided independent gaming market projections and evaluated previous analyses of the market potential.  The final deliverable provided necessary substantiation for the Hard Rock project to financing and banking entities.

Hard Rock Athens commenced construction in late-2023, with an expected opening of mid- 2026.
