Accept AI for its imperfections and use it to pull ahead
Perhaps I’ve been expecting too much from AI. Perhaps I need to dive in with both feet, accept AI for its imperfections, and figure out the myriad ways it can help me and my clients in our work.
Today, I spoke with a long-time and dear friend, Kimberly Arnold of Escalate Solutions. Kimberly has spent the last three years embedded with Microsoft, working with AI to develop solutions to clients’ problems. Armed with the latest in AI technologies from the largest tech company in the world, she’s been helping companies in multiple industries to be more productive and gain advantages in the marketplace. I had hoped that our conversation would be eye-opening, but I wasn’t sure where it would go and if I would follow.
Yes, I followed. Yes, with Kimberly’s help I’m starting to see the picture better now. There is no one single AI tool that we’ll all use, but many. We don’t need to know how to code to use these tools either. Some AI tools can be taken off the shelf and used as-is, while others should be customized.
Every company can and should be making use of AI now. At Convergence Strategy Group we’ve been using AI for a handful of applications, but there is so much more we can do. From aiding simple internet searches, to automating purchasing and inventory tracking for a hotel or casino, to developing training manuals, to monitoring social media mentions, AI can save us all time. If AI can save us 30 minutes a day doing menial or routine tasks (or days, weeks?), isn’t that time better spent doing the more creative and fulfilling work that requires a human brain? Just think about how this will impact performance, and how those that use AI will quickly pull ahead. That’s what I can’t stop thinking about.
